DRDO and Industry Develop Quadruplex FBW Computer for AMCA
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian private sector firms have collaboratively developed a quadruplex digital fly-by-wire (FBW) computer for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), enhancing India’s indigenous capabilities in advanced avionics for next-generation combat aircraft. This system’s quadruplex redundancy ensures fault tolerance, critical for maintaining flight control in challenging environments. The initiative reflects a strengthened aerospace ecosystem, merging public research with private industry expertise, and supports the AMCA’s sophisticated technologies, including stealth and AI integration. This milestone not only propels India’s strategic autonomy in aerospace technology but also reinforces its ambitions for air dominance, with prototypes expected by 2030 and operational induction projected around 2034-2035.
