DRDO Advances Semiconductor Tech, Boosting India's Defense Self-Reliance
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has made significant advancements in India’s semiconductor technology, crucial for enhancing self-reliance in high-performance electronics. The DRDO has successfully developed indigenous methods for producing 4-inch Silicon Carbide wafers and Gallium Nitride High Electron Mobility Transistors, pivotal for advanced radar and missile systems. This progress supports India’s goal of reducing dependence on imports and aligns with the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Highlighted during the Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025, these developments signify a commitment to fostering an innovation ecosystem, ultimately positioning India as a leader in global science and technology by 2047. This initiative not only advances India’s defense capabilities but also strengthens its technological sovereignty.
