Defence Ministry allocates Rs 500 crore for deep tech projects

The Indian Ministry of Defence has announced a Rs 500 crore allocation for deep tech projects under the Technology Development Fund (TDF), focusing on intelligent textiles, desert warfare systems, and wargaming technologies. These innovations aim to enhance India’s military capabilities, particularly in specialized combat environments. Currently, nine projects are underway, involving 55 institutes across India, with an emphasis on cutting-edge research areas like AI, quantum technology, and advanced materials. This initiative not only fosters collaboration between academia and defense but also positions India as a proactive player in defense technology development, reinforcing its strategic capabilities in an evolving geopolitical landscape.
