Defence Minister to launch ICG's indigenously built pollution control vessel Samudra Pratap in Goa.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will commission the Indian Coast Guard’s (ICG) first indigenously built Pollution Control Vessel (PCV) Samudra Pratap in Goa on January 5, 2026. This 114.5-meter vessel, constructed with over 60% indigenous content by Goa Shipyard Limited, enhances ICG’s operational capabilities in pollution response and maritime safety. Equipped with advanced technologies, including a Dynamic Positioning capability and state-of-the-art pollution detection systems, Samudra Pratap underscores the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. Its commissioning marks a significant advancement in the ICG’s fleet, reinforcing India’s maritime security and environmental protection efforts.
