The Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the development of an 800 HP automatic transmission designed for next-generation tracked vehicles, specifically the Zorawar Light Tank. This initiative aims to enhance India’s armored warfare capabilities by fostering indigenization, with a focus on lightweight, high-performance powertrains for modern combat environments. The proposed transmission features advanced hydrodynamic technology for smooth gear shifts and improved thermal management, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative’s goal of 70% indigenization by 2030.
