Brazilian Army Interested in India's Garuda 105 V2 for Artillery Modernization
The Brazilian Army has shown significant interest in India’s indigenous Garuda 105 V2 ultra-lightweight mobile artillery system, developed by Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited. This interest emerged during recent bilateral discussions focused on modernizing Brazil’s expeditionary forces, particularly for operations in the challenging terrains of the Amazon rainforest. The Garuda 105 V2, designed for high mobility and low signatures, could enhance Brazil’s artillery capabilities, replacing older systems like the M101 howitzers. Furthermore, Brazil is considering a Transfer of Technology agreement that would allow local production, exemplifying the potential for deeper defense collaboration between India and Brazil, similar to past successful partnerships like the KC-390 transport aircraft. This development underscores the growing importance of defense ties in addressing regional security challenges.
