Brazil and India finalize defense barter for aircraft and fighters.

India and Brazil are on the verge of finalizing a landmark defense barter deal, where India would acquire Brazilian Embraer C-390 Millennium transport aircraft while Brazil would purchase Indian HAL Tejas Mk1A fighter jets and LCH Prachand helicopters. This reciprocal arrangement aims to modernize India’s aging transport fleet and bolster Brazil’s military capabilities, facilitating a significant leap in defense cooperation. The deal aligns with India’s “Make in India” initiative and showcases India’s growing defense industrial base on the global stage. This partnership not only enhances military collaboration between the two nations but also reflects an emerging trend among BRICS countries to leverage industrial strengths for mutual benefits, potentially reshaping their strategic alliances.
