Anduril Australia reveals Ghost Shark AUV, enhancing naval capabilities by 2026.
Anduril Australia has unveiled the first Ghost Shark Extra Large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (XL-AUV), set for delivery to the Royal Australian Navy in January 2026, following a significant A$1.7 billion contract. This initiative aims to bolster Australia’s undersea warfare capabilities through enhanced intelligence, surveillance, and strike operations, while also creating over 150 skilled jobs and engaging numerous Australian small and medium enterprises. The development, in collaboration with Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Group, positions Australia as a vital hub for autonomous warfare systems in the Indo-Pacific region, potentially facilitating future exports to allied nations. This advancement is significant as it strengthens Australia’s defense industry and enhances strategic partnerships under the AUKUS framework.
