ADE Seeks Turboprop Engines for HALE UAV Development in India
In a significant advancement for India’s indigenous defense capabilities, the Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) for turboprop engines to power the High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) UAV program. This initiative seeks collaboration with established firms capable of supplying efficient propulsion systems tailored for UAVs designed for strategic reconnaissance and surveillance missions. The specified requirements include a power output of 900-1500 Shaft Horsepower, a service ceiling above 45,000 feet, and a specific fuel consumption of less than 0.555 lb/hp-hr. The development of HALE UAVs is crucial for enhancing India’s border security and intelligence capabilities amidst evolving regional threats, marking a pivotal step in the country’s defense modernization strategy.
