RBI mandates banks to adopt ".bank.in" domain for enhanced cybersecurity.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated that all banks migrate their official websites to the new “.bank.in” domain to reinforce cybersecurity and protect customers from phishing attacks. This initiative, effective immediately, ensures that only RBI-regulated banks can use the exclusive domain, enhancing trust in digital banking services. Notable banks such as ICICI, HDFC, Axis, and Kotak Mahindra have already transitioned to their new URLs, which will provide a verified digital identity, aiding users in distinguishing genuine sites from fraudulent ones. This move addresses rising online payment frauds and signifies a significant step forward in securing India’s digital banking landscape, thereby fostering greater consumer confidence.
