NATO's major cyber exercise reveals vulnerabilities in digital defense strategies.

NATO conducted its largest cyber defense exercise in Estonia, simulating coordinated digital attacks from a fictional adversary, Harbadus, targeting military and civilian infrastructure of its neighbor, Andvaria. The week-long drill involved 29 NATO members and seven partner nations, emphasizing the alliance’s need for collective resilience against modern cyber threats akin to tactics associated with Russia and China. Participants faced escalating crises, including disruptions to satellite communications and infrastructure, highlighting the stress of managing cyber warfare’s complexities. The exercise aimed to identify vulnerabilities and improve coordination among member states, reinforcing NATO’s commitment to safeguarding digital sovereignty amid increasing geopolitical tensions.
