India to enforce cybersecurity checks for all connected devices nationwide.

India is set to implement a mandatory cybersecurity certification framework applicable to all connected devices across critical sectors such as healthcare, energy, transport, telecom, and industrial infrastructure. This initiative, prompted by concerns over vulnerabilities in imported technology and the safeguarding of national infrastructure, will involve rigorous security testing and the establishment of uniform standards. The National Security Council Secretariat, along with various governmental departments, will coordinate the rollout, expected to unfold over three to four years to ensure compliance and local capacity-building. This proactive approach underscores India’s commitment to enhancing its cybersecurity posture and mitigating systemic risks, ultimately supporting its growing digitized infrastructure in an increasingly interconnected world.
