France Uncovers Disinformation Campaign Against India's Rafale Deal

A sophisticated disinformation campaign targeting India’s acquisition of 26 Rafale Marine fighter jets has been exposed by the French government agency Viginum. Forged letters attributed to Dassault Aviation’s CEO and India’s External Affairs Minister circulated on social media, falsely claiming significant delays and internal discord regarding the deal. This operation, which began on November 25, 2025, highlights ongoing attempts to undermine confidence in the Franco-Indian defense partnership amidst rising geopolitical tensions. As India strengthens its naval aviation capabilities with the Rafale Marine, the incident underscores the critical need for vigilance against digital misinformation that seeks to impact strategic defense collaborations in the Indo-Pacific region.
