India Urges Russia to Stop RD-93 Engine Supplies to Pakistan

India is strategically positioned to leverage its longstanding partnership with Russia to address the security concern posed by the supply of RD-93 engines to Pakistan for its JF-17 fighter jets. With U.S. scrutiny over India’s Russian oil purchases escalating, New Delhi can press Moscow to halt these supplies, weakening Pakistan’s air capabilities while strengthening its own security. The JF-17 has been pivotal in recent India-Pakistan conflicts, and India’s consistent protests to Russia have seen limited success. However, the financial strains on Pakistan’s military capabilities due to U.S. sanctions on Russia present an opportune moment for India to advocate for regional stability and assert its defense priorities.
