MiG-21 installed in Kota park to honor India's military legacy and inspire youth.

The MiG-21 fighter aircraft, a symbol of India’s military prowess, has been installed at the Kota Karanth Theme Park in Udupi, highlighting its historical significance, particularly during the Kargil War. This initiative, spearheaded by MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary after extensive discussions with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, aims to inspire interest in the Indian Armed Forces among students and the public. The MiG-21’s legacy includes the notable incident where Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman downed a Pakistani F-16, marking a pivotal moment in aerial combat history. The display, managed by the Kotatattu gram panchayat and Karanth trust, enriches the park’s cultural offerings and fosters a deeper connection to India’s defense heritage.
