Taiwan condemns China's military drills as a threat to regional peace.

China has initiated extensive military drills around Taiwan, labelled “Justice Mission 2025,” aimed at demonstrating its blockade capabilities and deterring external support for the island. These exercises, characterized by live-fire demonstrations and the involvement of both naval and air forces, have raised regional tensions, with China’s People’s Liberation Army asserting that they serve as a stern warning against Taiwan’s independence and foreign interference. The Taiwanese Mainland Affairs Council condemned these actions, accusing Beijing of hypocrisy for claiming to advocate global peace while simultaneously threatening regional stability. They highlighted the timing of the military maneuvers, which followed the Taipei-Shanghai Twin-City Forum, as indicative of a two-pronged strategy to promote dialogue while resorting to intimidation. The situation underscores the precarious balance of power in the Taiwan Strait and invites scrutiny from the international community regarding China’s intentions and military assertiveness.
