ISRO to build third launch pad at Shriharikota in four years.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to commission a third launch pad at its Shriharikota spaceport within four years, aimed at enhancing its capabilities to launch heavier satellites in the 12,000-14,000 kg class and support future human and robotic missions. This new facility will serve both crewed and uncrewed missions, aligning with India’s long-term goals such as developing the Bharatiya Antariksh Station. The initiative signifies India’s strategic intention to expand its presence in the global launch market, improve scheduling flexibility, and accommodate a growing range of domestic and international missions while leveraging existing infrastructure to manage costs and risks effectively.
