President Murmu celebrates Parsi Maha and Ol Chiki centenary in Jamshedpur.
The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, attended the closing ceremony of the 22nd Parsi Maha and centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on December 29, 2025. During her address, she emphasized the importance of the Santhali language and culture, particularly highlighting the role of the Ol Chiki script, created by Pandit Raghunath Murmu in 1925, which serves as a vital symbol of Santhal identity. The President underscored the significance of education in one’s mother tongue for the holistic development of the Santhal community and announced the release of the Indian Constitution in Santhali, written in the Ol Chiki script. She called for greater literary exchange and accessibility of Santhali literature to foster community bonding and promote environmental conservation, encouraging writers to awaken tribal communities through their work. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to cultural preservation and inclusivity within India’s diverse linguistic landscape.
