Army chief Gen Dwivedi, Ambassador P Harish discuss India's UN peacekeeping role.

Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi recently engaged with Ambassador P Harish, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, to discuss India’s evolving role in UN peacekeeping operations amid shifting geostrategic dynamics in South Asia. General Dwivedi emphasized the unprecedented challenges faced by peacekeeping missions, noting over 56 active conflicts globally involving 19 nations, and the need for unified responses in the face of disruptive technologies and hybrid warfare. He highlighted India’s significant contributions to global peacekeeping, having deployed approximately 300,000 personnel across 51 missions, reinforcing the importance of peacekeepers as both security providers and diplomats in conflict zones. This dialogue underscores India’s commitment to enhancing international stability and its proactive stance in global peacekeeping efforts.
