India must prepare for short and long wars amid terrorism and disputes, says CDS.
India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, emphasized the need for the country to prepare for both short-duration, high-intensity conflicts and long-duration wars, particularly in light of ongoing terrorism and territorial disputes with neighboring nations. During a speech at IIT Bombay, he highlighted the importance of multi-domain operations, necessitated by advancements in technologies such as AI and hypersonics, which transform warfare dynamics. The General cited Operation Sindoor as an example of effective multi-domain coordination that resulted in a decisive victory for India. He underscored the necessity for close integration among the Army, Navy, Air Force, and emerging domains like cyber and space to counter these evolving threats and maintain strategic deterrence.
