Terrorism and Counterterrorism

Joint forces capture militant associate and seize arms in Pulwama.

Joint security forces in Jammu and Kashmir apprehended a militant associate, Javid Ahmad Hajam, during a search and cordon operation in the Wuyan Khrew area of Pulwama district, recovering a pistol and live ammunition. The operation, involving local police, the 185 battalion of CRPF, and the 50 Rashtriya Rifles, is part of a broader initiative to dismantle the support networks for terrorism in the region, which includes monitoring drug smuggling and hawala funding linked to terrorist activities. Authorities have begun investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and are actively attaching properties tied to terrorism and unlawful activities. These measures underscore India’s commitment to counter-terrorism and maintaining security in Jammu and Kashmir.
