India Enhances Cyber Defence with CERT-In and Cyber Swachhta Kendra Initiatives Against Ransomware.
India is bolstering its cybersecurity posture against ransomware and AI-driven threats through coordinated efforts by CERT-In and NCIIPC, as highlighted in a Ministry of Electronics and IT statement on December 17, 2025. Mandatory annual security audits, guided by CERT-In’s July 2025 Comprehensive Cyber Security Audit Policy and supported by 231 empanelled auditors, ensure robust checks across critical sectors like finance and power, alongside sector-specific teams such as CSIRT-Fin and CSIRT-Power. The Cyber Swachhta Kendra provides free tools for malware detection and removal, while initiatives like 24×7 AI/ML monitoring, zero-trust implementation, vulnerability assessments, and indigenous tools from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing enhance digital resilience. Capacity-building includes training programs like the Certified Security Professional in AI launched in September 2024, alongside mock drills and public awareness drives, underscoring India’s proactive defense of its national cyberspace.
