Parliament urges Defence Ministry to fully utilize budget for DRDO advancements.

A parliamentary panel, led by BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh, has urged the Defence Ministry to fully utilise allocated funds, emphasizing the importance of sustained financial support for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The committee expressed confidence in DRDO’s advancements in cutting-edge technologies, including hypersonics, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing, underscoring the significance of self-reliance in defense manufacturing within the Atmanirbhar Bharat framework. With a substantial budget allocation of ₹26,816 crore for the current financial year and additional grants targeting deep-tech projects, the initiatives aim to foster collaboration between academia and industry. This proactive push for full fund utilisation is vital for enhancing India’s strategic capabilities amid rising geopolitical tensions, positioning DRDO as a leader in global defense innovation.
