IAF to Raise Three Tejas Mk1A Squadrons by Late 2026

The Indian Air Force (IAF) plans to induct three squadrons of the Tejas Mk1A fighter jet by late 2026, with the first two squadrons operational by early 2026 in Rajasthan, enhancing air defense along the Pakistan border. The third squadron will be positioned at Srinagar to bolster capabilities against China. With upgrades like an advanced radar and the indigenous Astra Mk1 missile, the Tejas Mk1A epitomizes India’s push for self-reliance in defense. The successful establishment of these squadrons relies on Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s ramped-up production, targeting the first aircraft delivery by September 2025, following resolutions in engine supply issues.
