President Murmu highlights human rights' role in India's equitable society during NHRC celebration.
The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, addressed the Human Rights Day celebration organized by the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi, emphasizing the fundamental role of human rights in fostering a just and equitable society. She highlighted India’s historical contributions to the global human rights framework and underscored the importance of ensuring these rights reach the most marginalized, aligning with the nation’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The President noted significant advancements in human rights protections, particularly for women and vulnerable communities, and acknowledged the transformative reforms introduced through the four Labour Codes, which aim to create a resilient workforce. She called upon citizens to actively participate in safeguarding human rights as a collective responsibility for a compassionate society, reinforcing that human rights and development are intrinsically linked, a perspective central to India’s democratic ethos and national progress.
