India's defense production reaches Rs 1.51 lakh crore, exports near Rs 24,000 crore.

India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced a remarkable surge in domestic defence production, reaching Rs 1.51 lakh crore from Rs 46,000 crore in 2014, with exports nearing Rs 24,000 crore. This transformation from an import-dependent nation to a burgeoning producer-exporter underscores the success of the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. During the inauguration of 125 crucial infrastructure projects by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in strategic regions, Singh highlighted the adoption of indigenous technologies like Class-70 modular bridges, enhancing India’s self-reliance in engineering. The BRO’s budget has seen significant increases, reflecting the government’s commitment to bolstering national security and infrastructure development in challenging terrains, thus reinforcing India’s defense capabilities and strategic resilience.
