Government Unveils Strategy Against Rising AI-Driven Cyberattacks

The Indian government informed the Rajya Sabha about the alarming rise in cybersecurity incidents, recording nearly 1.2 million in 2022 alone, and highlighted the growing threat of AI-driven cyberattacks. Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada outlined measures to bolster cyber defenses across critical sectors, including a comprehensive Safe & Trusted AI framework and enhanced cybersecurity audits. Key initiatives involve the establishment of the National Cyber Coordination Centre for real-time threat monitoring, regular mock drills to assess preparedness, and the provision of malware cleaning tools through Cyber Swachhta Kendra. This multi-layered strategy underscores India’s commitment to combatting evolving cyber threats amid increasing digitalization and internet adoption.
