Soldier dies as Army tank sinks during routine exercise in Rajasthan.

On December 2, 2025, during a routine Indian Army training exercise in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district near the Indira Gandhi Canal’s 226 RD point, an armored tank sank rapidly while practicing water crossings, claiming one soldier’s life. Two or three personnel were aboard; one or two escaped with assistance, but the trapped jawan drowned, with his body recovered after hours-long efforts by police, State Disaster Response Force, civil defence teams, and Army divers under Sriganganagar SP Amrita Duhan’s oversight. The postmortem occurred on December 3 at Suratgarh Military Hospital. From an Indian strategic viewpoint, this tragedy in a border-proximal area underscores vulnerabilities in armored maneuvers critical for western front readiness against Pakistan, urging enhanced safety drills, equipment checks, and rapid rescue protocols to safeguard personnel in high-stakes amphibious operations vital to national security.
