Delhi High Court urges CBFC to consider Major Sharma's legacy concerns before "Dhurandhar" release.

The Delhi High Court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to address the concerns raised by the parents of late Major Mohit Sharma regarding the film “Dhurandhar,” which they allege misuses their son’s legacy and violates his posthumous dignity. Major Sharma’s parents, who are seeking an urgent stay on the film’s release scheduled for December 5, argue that the film’s narrative closely resembles their son’s life and covert military operations, raising issues of security and authorization. The court noted that the CBFC has not yet completed the certification process and suggested that the board potentially consult the Indian Army before making a final decision. Additionally, the film faces criticism from Naureen Aslam, the widow of a Pakistani police officer, who has threatened legal action if her husband is portrayed negatively. This case underscores the delicate balance between creative expression in the film industry and the responsibilities to honor the legacies of individuals, particularly those who have served in sensitive military and law enforcement roles.
