The attack, attributed to “criminal groups” potentially linked to Pakistan, occurred at a gold mine in Khatlon province, raising tensions between China and Pakistan. Tajikistan’s government condemned the assault and emphasized the need for regional stability, while Afghanistan expressed condolences and pledged cooperation with Tajikistan to identify the perpetrators.
