Modi Launches Vikram-I, Ushering in India's Private Space Era.
PM Modi has launched India’s private space era with the virtual unveiling of Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-I rocket and its new Infinity Campus in Hyderabad. The Vikram-I, capable of placing up to 300 kg into low Earth orbit, reflects advanced technologies and rapid launch capabilities, with assembly and launch possible within 24 to 72 hours. This initiative aims to elevate India’s position in the global satellite launch market, traditionally dominated by public organizations, by fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth. With plans for its first full-scale commercial mission by January 2026, Skyroot is set to revolutionize private-sector space operations in India, marking a significant shift in the country’s space ambitions.
