Indian and Sri Lankan Coast Guards enhance maritime rescue cooperation

The 8th High-Level Meeting between the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) focused on enhancing maritime rescue coordination and response to marine pollution, demonstrating a commitment to regional stability. The discussions were led by ICG Director General Paramesh Sivamani and SLCG Director General Rear Admiral Y.R. Serasinghe, emphasizing cooperation in law enforcement and capacity building. Concurrently, the Indian Navy plans to commission two advanced frigates, Udaygiri and Himgiri, showcasing the success of the Make in India initiative and boosting the defense industry by supporting local MSMEs. This collaborative approach underscores India’s proactive strategy in strengthening maritime security and self-reliance in defense capabilities.
