India set to finalize $450 million BrahMos missile export deal.

India is on the verge of finalizing defense export agreements worth approximately $450 million for the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system, marking a major milestone in the country’s defense export ambitions. These deals, in advanced stages of negotiation, are expected to be signed soon with multiple friendly nations impressed by the missile’s combat-proven capability showcased during Operation Sindoor, where it effectively targeted Pakistani air bases. Among the prominent deals is a pact with Indonesia, pending final Russian approval due to the joint Indo-Russian development of BrahMos. This push towards expanding BrahMos exports aligns with India’s strategic goal to strengthen defense ties and enhance security cooperation with partner countries, particularly in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The Indian Defence Ministry has also authorized increased procurement of BrahMos variants for naval warships and the Indian Air Force, further underpinning its role in India’s strategic deterrence and regional influence.
