Embraer Defense & Security at the Dubai Airshow 2025 has proposed the KC-390 Millennium as a next-generation airlift solution for the Indian Air Force (IAF), offering full local production and co-development of specialized variants under the Make in India initiative. The company aims to establish a complete production line in India, increasing indigenous content beyond 60% within a few years. The KC-390, designed for multi-role capabilities, addresses the IAF’s requirements for high-altitude operations and includes features like aerial refueling and advanced defensive systems. As the IAF reevaluates its medium transport aircraft options, the KC-390 presents a competitive alternative to existing offerings, potentially enhancing India’s operational flexibility and technological self-reliance in defense.
