India Showcases Upgraded Netra AWACS Mk1A with GaN Tech at Dubai Airshow 2025
India showcased its upgraded Netra AWACS Mk1A at the Dubai Airshow 2025, held from November 17 to 18 in the United Arab Emirates. The Mk1A variant features advanced Gallium Nitride (GaN) radar technology, which enhances power efficiency, detection range, and tracking capabilities, marking a significant leap in airborne early warning and control systems. This indigenous system highlights India’s growing prowess in defence technology and signals the country’s intent to compete in the global AWACS export market, especially offering cost-effective alternatives to Western systems. The display at one of the world’s premier defence expos demonstrates India’s confidence in its aerospace capabilities and reinforces its position as a rising defence exporter. The event also featured significant participation from Indian defence firms and startups, alongside the Indian Air Force’s aerial displays by the Surya Kiran team and LCA Tejas fighters, showcasing a comprehensive snapshot of India’s expanding defence and aerospace strength. This presence at Dubai projects India’s strategic defence vision and its emphasis on technological self-reliance.
