India and Germany have established a landmark defense pact focusing on the joint manufacture of LiDAR-based Obstacle Avoidance Systems (OAS) for military helicopters, marking a significant technology transfer between the two nations. This agreement, reached during the India-Germany High Defence Committee meeting, represents the most substantial collaboration in defense technology in nearly three decades, with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) partnering with Germany’s HENSOLDT.
