Army Chief reviews operational readiness in Sikkim amid LAC tensions.
General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff, is on a two-day visit to Sikkim to review the operational readiness of Indian forces along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). This visit comes amid improved relations between India and China, attributed to enhanced communication channels. The Trishakti Corps, stationed in Sukna, is tasked with defending the 220-km stretch of the LAC in Sikkim, following the disengagement of forces at various standoff points in October 2024. However, despite these developments, both Indian and Chinese troops remain positioned near the 832-km LAC in eastern Ladakh, where tensions have persisted since the clashes in May 2020. This ongoing military vigilance underscores India’s commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity in the region.
