Morocco orders ten Airbus H225M helicopters to modernize CSAR fleet.

The Kingdom of Morocco has signed a contract with Airbus Helicopters for ten H225M multi-role helicopters at the Dubai Air Show, aimed at modernizing its combat search and rescue fleet. This acquisition will replace Morocco’s aging Puma helicopters and includes a support package and the establishment of a local Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) center. From India’s perspective, this development highlights the global trend towards modern rotorcraft procurement and underscores the importance of domestic MRO capabilities, echoing India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. It emphasizes the need for the Indian Armed Forces to prioritize indigenous content and self-reliance in future helicopter acquisitions to enhance operational readiness and reduce dependency on foreign supply chains.
