Delhi's K-9 unit enhances security after Red Fort explosion.

Following the recent explosion near Red Fort, the Delhi Police’s K-9 unit, comprising 64 highly trained dogs, has underscored its vital role in the capital’s security framework. With 58 dogs specializing in explosive detection, along with narcotics and tracking capabilities, the unit operates strategically across the city to enhance public safety. In response to evolving security challenges, Delhi Police plans to expand the unit by recruiting 72 additional dogs, enabling new functions such as combat assault and search & rescue operations. This initiative highlights the integral role of canine units as force multipliers, ensuring rigorous preparedness against potential threats while maintaining public safety in a sprawling urban environment.
