J&K DGP confirms Nowgam blast was accidental, dismisses terror links.

An accidental explosion occurred at the Nowgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the tragic loss of nine lives and injuries to 32 others. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat confirmed that the explosion was linked to the unstable handling of a substantial quantity of ammonium nitrate explosives, recently confiscated during an operation against a terror module in Faridabad. Despite the claims of responsibility by the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad’s splinter group, the Peoples Anti-Fascist Front, DGP Prabhat categorically dismissed any links to terrorism, emphasizing that the incident was purely accidental. In response to the tragedy, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep anguish and ordered an investigation to ascertain the cause of the explosion, affirming that the government would provide all necessary support to the affected families. This incident highlights ongoing security challenges in the region and the vital importance of stringent safety protocols when handling explosive materials, especially in sensitive areas.
