DRDO Seeks Information for Indigenous Advanced Air-to-Air Refueling Pods Development

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), through its Technology Development Fund, has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the indigenous development of advanced Air-to-Air Refueling Pods (ARP Pods) aimed at enhancing the Indian Air Force’s operational reach and endurance. The RFI, issued in November 2025 with submissions due by November 25, emphasizes developing scalable, high-reliability pods compatible with existing IAF aircraft such as the Rafale and Tejas, incorporating features like aerodynamic efficiency and emergency power capabilities. This initiative aligns with the Make in India program, inviting MSMEs and defense firms to foster innovation and reduce foreign dependency amid rising geopolitical tensions. The modular pods will enable force multiplication, supporting extended-range missions and high-altitude operations while promoting domestic industry participation and future technological upgrades. The selection process is expected to progress into early 2026, marking a strategic leap for India’s aerial refueling capability and self-reliance.
