HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Cochin Shipyard Limited to collaborate on India’s ambitious ₹1,30,000 crore Landing Platform Dock program, aiming to enhance the Indian Navy’s amphibious capabilities. This partnership will leverage HHI’s advanced naval design and technology transfer expertise while reinforcing India’s Make in India initiative. The project involves the construction of four large landing vessels, each with a displacement of approximately 29,000 tons, crucial for troop deployment and disaster relief operations. This initiative aligns with India’s Tri-Service Perspective Capability Roadmap, which outlines comprehensive procurement goals aimed at modernizing the naval fleet and transitioning toward a more agile and network-driven maritime force.
