Mitra Shakti 2025: India-Sri Lanka Exercise Enhances Counter-Terrorism Cooperation
The India-Sri Lanka joint military exercise ‘Mitra Shakti 2025’ commenced in Belagavi, Karnataka, focusing on enhancing counter-terrorism capabilities through joint tactical operations. Featuring 170 Indian soldiers, primarily from the Rajput Regiment, and 135 Sri Lankan soldiers from the Gajaba Regiment, the exercise includes integrated tri-service participation with air force personnel from both nations. Advanced technologies, such as drones and rotary-wing support, are employed to simulate real-life counter-terror scenarios, reflecting the evolving nature of warfare. This exercise, part of India’s strategic outreach under the Neighbourhood First and SAGAR initiatives, reinforces bilateral defence cooperation, promoting regional stability and collective security in the Indian Ocean Region, while also fostering mutual trust and respect between the two nations.
