Rajnath Singh opens DPSU Bhavan, highlights DPSUs' strong performance and collaboration efforts.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently inaugurated the state-of-the-art Defence PSU Bhawan at the World Trade Centre in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone for India’s Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs). The new facility is designed to foster collaboration and operational synergy among the nation’s 16 DPSUs, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to defense industry modernization. At the event, Singh praised the robust performance of DPSUs, noting that they accounted for 71.6% of the total defense production value, which reached ₹1.51 lakh crore for fiscal year 2024-25. He further highlighted a sharp rise in exports, with figures climbing to ₹6,695 crore, as India continues to expand its footprint in global defense markets. Four DPSUs—Munitions India Limited, Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited, India Optel Limited, and Hindustan Shipyard Limited—were conferred Miniratna Category-I status, granting them increased autonomy and operational flexibility. The occasion also witnessed the launch of the SWAYAM initiative, a move to encourage sustainable and eco-friendly practices within the sector. Multiple Memoranda of Understanding were signed, signifying a strategic push towards deeper modernization, indigenization, and enhanced research and development. Singh emphasized that these steps would accelerate self-reliance in defense manufacturing and fortify India’s position internationally, aligning with the nation’s broader vision for sustainable industrial advancement.
