IAF helicopter to airlift polling officials in Naxal-affected Nuapada bypoll.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed a helicopter to facilitate the transportation of polling officials to remote and Naxal-affected areas during the Nuapada bypoll. This operation entails airlifting officials from Gotma airstrip to Sunabeda helipad, ensuring timely access to polling booths located in challenging terrains. Each of the eight polling booths is staffed with six officials and two police personnel, reflecting a robust security arrangement in light of the region’s history of Left Wing extremism. This proactive measure underscores the IAF’s vital role in strengthening democratic processes in vulnerable areas, demonstrating India’s commitment to ensuring fair and secure elections.
