AK-47 found in Anantnag doctor’s locker; investigation underway.

In a significant security development in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, police recovered an AK-47 rifle from the locker of Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, a senior resident doctor at GMC Anantnag. Following the seizure, Dr. Rather was detained for interrogation under multiple sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, as authorities seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding the weapon’s presence. The inquiry is being conducted by the Srinagar Police in conjunction with the Joint Interrogation Centre, amidst ongoing aggressive anti-terror operations targeting militants and their support networks. This incident underscores the persistent challenge of infiltration and extremist activity in the region, necessitating vigilant law enforcement measures.
