Three militants arrested in Imphal; firearm and cash seized.

On November 7, 2025, security forces in Imphal East district, Manipur, arrested three militants belonging to banned outfits amid ongoing insurgency crackdowns. Among the detainees were a 22-year-old female cadre of the banned Prepak and two active members of the People’s Liberation Army apprehended from Andro, Khurai Lamlong, and Porompat areas. Authorities seized a firearm, ammunition, and unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 60,300 from their possession. The militants were accused of extortion from local schools, brick-making units, hospitals, and pharmacies, intensifying instability in the region. These arrests come amid a vigorous campaign by security forces to curb ethnic violence between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, a conflict that has claimed over 260 lives and displaced thousands since May 2023. The federal government’s imposition of President’s rule following the resignation of Manipur’s Chief Minister reflects the serious law and order challenges.
