Australia opens Ghost Shark AUV factory to boost maritime security and local manufacturing.

On November 3, 2025, Australia inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sydney for the Ghost Shark XL-AUV, an advanced autonomous underwater vehicle developed under a $1.7 billion contract with Anduril Industries. This facility, which integrates cutting-edge technologies such as robotic assembly and AI-driven logistics, aims to enhance the Royal Australian Navy’s maritime security capabilities and establish sovereign undersea deterrence. The program not only strengthens Australia’s defense posture in the Indo-Pacific region but also promotes local manufacturing and job creation, with significant contributions from Australian SMEs.
