India to host maritime workshop for 30 nations on security collaboration.
India is set to host the Maritime Information Sharing Workshop (MISW) from November 3-5, bringing together maritime security practitioners from 30 countries to enhance collaborative responses to transnational maritime threats like piracy and drug smuggling. Organized by the Information Fusion Centre-Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR), this flagship event aims to reinforce shared situational awareness and coordinated action across the Indian Ocean Region. The workshop, inaugurated by Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, will facilitate the exchange of best practices and strengthen interoperability among the participating nations. This initiative underscores India’s commitment to fostering a secure and resilient maritime ecosystem, pivotal for safeguarding critical sea lanes vital for global commerce and regional stability.
