US Air Force aims to expand fighter fleet to 1,400 by 2030.

The U.S. Air Force has announced an ambitious plan to expand its fleet to nearly 1,400 tactical aircraft by 2030, necessitating increased procurement of advanced fighters like the F-15EX and F-35A. This expansion aims for a combat-coded inventory of 1,558 jets, reflecting the need to maintain superiority over near-peer competitors. However, the plan faces funding challenges from Congress and production limitations exacerbated by labor strikes. The strategic importance of this fleet expansion is underscored by ongoing modernization demands, highlighting the necessity for substantial investment to ensure operational readiness in future conflicts. This initiative aligns with national defense priorities, aiming to bolster the Air Force’s capabilities amid evolving global security threats.
